DUO FOB

A "DUO FOB" refers to a small, portable hardware device also called a "Duo hardware token" which is used for multi-factor authentication (MFA) with the Duo security system. Essentially, it's a key fob that generates a unique passcode you need to enter when logging in to access protected systems. It providing an extra layer of security beyond just a password, for people who may not have access to a smartphone or prefer not to use a smartphone.

Purchase a DUO FOB

DUO fobs are sold at the Tech Store located in the Nigh University Center on the 2nd Floor. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

How to use a DUO FOB

  1. Log in with your UCO username and password
  2. When the Duo authentication prompt appears (it often defaults to a push notification), click Other Options or Enter a Passcode.
  3. Select Hardware Token if prompted to choose your authentication method.
  4. Firmly press the button on your physical Duo fob. A short, one-time numerical passcode will appear on the token's small screen.
  5. Type the numbers into the passcode field on your computer screen.
  6. Click Log In or Verify to complete your secure sign-in.

Note: Avoid pressing the button repeatedly when not logging in so the fob does not go "out of sync" with the server.
