Banner Blank Screen with error when launched

Summary

Banner user launches Banner using Internet Explorer (IE) and they receive just a blank white screen with an error message in the upper left corner of the browser. This article walks the user through the process of how to correct this issue.

Body

Known java issue when launching Banner and user receives a blank (white) screen with a red error in the left corner.

Banner white screen

This usually indicates that the TLS settings in java are incorrect.

Fix

Launch control panel

Click on Java (32-bit)

Click on the "Advanced" tab

Scroll down to "Advanced Security Settings

Uncheck "Use TLS 1.1" and "Use TLS 1.2"

Click "Apply"

Navigate to the Security Tab

Under “Exception Site List” add https://banner2.uco.edu and https://banner.uco.edu

Click “Edit Site List”

On some versions a new window will pop up.

Click “Add”

Enter:  https://banner2.uco.edu and https://banner.uco.edu

Click “OK”

Click "OK"

Close all Internet Explorer (IE) browser(s) and go to banner.uco.edu again.

Click "Run"
