When are the deadlines to add/drop/withdraw courses?

Summary

Detailed information on adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses

Body

Add/Drop Period: The period of time at the beginning of each term when schedules can be adjusted without penalty. The length of the add/drop period varies by class and is determined by the number of instructional weeks. Please refer to the Academic Calendar to review the add/drop period dates.

Drop: This action is valid when dropping a course before the end of the add/drop period. A drop does not appear on a transcript, does not count as an attempt on a class, and grants a 100% refund of tuition.

Withdrawal: This action becomes valid after the drop with refund period expires. A withdrawal does appear on a transcript, counts as an attempt on the class, and charges tuition fees.

Administrative Withdrawal: A withdrawal action that is processed if:

  • Students who never attend courses in which they are enrolled and do not personally drop or withdraw may be administratively withdrawn by the instructor from each affected class. The deadline to submit an AW is the last day to drop a class with a full refund and no grade each semester.

The deadlines to add/drop/withdraw courses can be viewed on the Dates and Deadlines page of our website.
