Phone Services for UCO Teleworkers

Description

To provide a secure, VPN-less communication solution for teleworkers, UCO uses Mobile and Remote Access (MRA) by Cisco.  A teleworker can use MRA to connect his/her phone to UCO's phone system when working away from campus. 

Requirements:  Cisco IP Phone 8851, Ethernet cable, external power supply and power cord.  These items can be purchased via a "Teleworker" package from the Central Tech Store

Support for local network and endpoint devices are not covered by UCO OIT.

Instructions

Ensure that the power supply cable is plugged into the DC adaptor port on the phone (1), and the power cord is plugged into the power supply (2) as well as the electrical outlet (3).  Additionally, make sure that the Ethernet cable is plugged into the network port (4) on the back of the phone and the other end connected to your local network.

1 DC adaptor port (DC48V).
2 AC-to-DC power supply.
3 AC power wall plug.
4 Network port (10/100/1000 SW) connection.
5 Access port (10/100/1000 PC) connection.
6 Auxiliary port.
7 Handset connection.
8 Analog headset connection (optional).
9 USB port.

At this point, your phone should be powered on and connected to the local network.

You are now ready to begin the sign-in process. 

The phone displays a welcome screen.

►►►►►Please note that the wallpaper (background image on the phone) may or may not look like what is shown in the images below.

  1. Press the softkey associated with A B C to be able to enter text using the keypad.

  1. Using the keypad, enter uco.edu as the service domain and then press the softkey associated with Continue.

►►►►►Press a number on the keypad to see the available options, and then press the number again to move through the choices.

For example:

To enter uco.edu...

  • Press the number 8 two times to enter a lowercase u.
  • Press the number 2 three times to enter a lowercase c.
  • Press the number 6 three times to enter a lowercase o.
  • Press the number 1 two times to enter the . (dot) symbol.
  • Press the number 3 two times to enter a lowercase e.
  • Press the number 3 one time to enter a lowercase d.
  • Press the number 8 two times to enter a lowercase u.

  1. Enter your UCO Username and Password and then press the softkey associated with Sign in.

►►►►►Press a number on the keypad to see the available options, and then press the number again to move through the choices.

For example:

To enter bbroncho...

  • Press the number 2 two times to enter a lowercase b.
  • Press the number 2 two times to enter a lowercase b.
  • Press the number 7 three times to enter a lowercase r.
  • Press the number 6 three times to enter a lowercase o.
  • Press the number 6 two times to enter a lowercase n.
  • Press the number 2 three time to enter a lowercase c.
  • Press the number 4 two times to enter a lowercase h.
  • Press the number 6 three times to enter a lowercase o.

►►►►►When finished entering the Username, press down (highlighted in yellow) on the navigation ring to move the cursor from the Username field to the Password field.
