Voicemail PIN Reset

Service Overview

The vast majority of active faculty and staff have UCO phone services. When a faculty or staff member is onboarded, he/she is setup with phone services. Once that is setup, he/she should receive an email with pertinent information pertaining to the extension and the phone system, including voicemail. The voicemail PIN protects the privacy of messages and secures the voicemail box from unauthorized access. The PIN can be changed at any time as long as the current PIN is known by accessing the voicemail box and selecting option 4, 3, and 1.

The following table describes the attributes of PINs for Cisco Unity Connection:

PINs
  • The PIN cannot contain your primary extension or its reverse.
  • The PIN must contain at least three different digits.
  • The digits cannot all be consecutive, in ascending or descending order (for example,12345 or 54321).
  • A digit cannot be used more than two times consecutively (for example, 14777).
  • The PIN cannot contain repeated groups of three or more digits (for example, 408510408).
  • The PIN cannot be a numeric representation of your first or last name, or the combination of your first and last names. (For example, if your name is John Doe, you could not use a numeric representation of johnd, johndoe, jdoe, doe.)

Features

Do you have a UCO phone and extension? If the answer is yes, then it is likely that you also have a voicemail box. UCO uses Cisco Unity Connection for voicemail. It lets users access and manage messages on campus from a Cisco Unified IP phone (select Voicemail button or dial x3100), off campus via 405.974.3100 and also from a UCO email inbox via Unified Messaging.

Getting Started

Do you need your voicemail PIN reset? After the initial voicemail setup, the PIN is only known by the faculty/staff member that entered it. Often times, the PIN will be forgotten or misplaced. If this is the case, it is no problem as UCO OIT will help you regain access to your voicemail box.

If you have forgotten your voicemail PIN, please select the Request Assistance link and provide the following information:

  • Primary UCO extension

Your voicemail PIN will be reset to the default PIN. See the Initial Voicemail Setup section found on page 8 of the Cisco Phone User Manual for more information pertaining to that default PIN. You will then be forced to update the PIN as soon as you login. The PIN must be a minimum of 4 digits.
