Locked Account

Summary

Explains how a user can correct a locked account.

Body

What Locks an Account?

Accounts are locked after incorrect credentials have been entered too many times. 15 failed attempts within 15 minutes locks the account for 15 minutes.

The most common cause of a locked account is a saved expired password on a device (usually a cell phone connecting to wifi) that is trying to connect to a UCO system.

Lockouts will repeat continuously until the password is updated to the correct password.

Unlock Procedures

To unlock an account, please follow these instructions:

  1. Please check all of your devices (cell phones, tablets, computers, etc.) for saved passwords and log out of all UCO systems (Wi-Fi, UCONNECT, D2L, etc.) on all devices.
  2. Wait 15 minutes.
  3. After 15 minutes, log into UCO systems using your current password.

If you cannot wait the 15 minutes for the account to unlock:

  1. Call the Service Desk at 405-974-2255 and press option #4.
  2. Visit the Service Desk on the 1st floor of the library or the Tech Express on 2nd floor of Nigh University Center.

If you have forgotten your password:

  • Go to reset.uco.edu to change your password.
  • Enter your UCO Username (example: bbroncho1) or UCO ID.
  • A password reset link will then be sent to your alternate email address on file. (Password reset link may take up to 15 minutes to arrive).
  • You may need to check your spam/junk folder if you do not see it in your inbox.

If you do not have access to your alternate email, visit Broncho OneStop in person or email registrar@uco.edu with your signature, photo ID, former email address, current email address.
