Introduction

SAS analytical software is available for students, faculty and staff. SAS is currently installed in various computer labs and some UCO owned computers.  See below for instructions on how to obtain SAS for campus and personal use.

SAS can be installed on both university owned and personal computers. For UCO owned computers, submit a request to the service desk and a technician will contact you to arrange installation. For personal devices, follow the directions below for downloading and installing SAS

SAS Install

This topic covers how to install the SAS software on a personal computer. The SAS software is only available for PC computers at this time and is not compatible with Mac devices.

Please note: The SAS download and installation process can take a very long time, depending on your internet connection and computer’s performance. We recommend using a wired internet connection and closing ALL applications on your computer before attempting installation.

Before installing SAS, please consult your instructor on the modules you will need for your class.

Download and Install SAS Software

  1. Download the SAS Installer .zip file from the Central Tech Store Online. (techstore.uco.edu).
  2. Save (or extract) the files to the location of your choice on your computer.
  3. Double-click the file to run the UCO-SAS 9.4 Installer.exe file.
  4. Read the license agreement, select "I accept" and the agreement radio button and click Next.
  5. Leave “Create a desktop shortcut” UNCHECKED and click Next.
  6. Click Install and wait for the installer to finish the process.
  7. Once the installer is finished, you will find SAS listed in your applications list.

 

SAS Deployment Wizard

Follow these instructions for launching and finalizing the installation process for the SAS software.

  1. Locate the SAS software in your applications list, expand it and double-click the SAS application to launch the program.
    Note: This will launch the SAS Deployment Wizard
  2. Choose your language from the dropdown menu and click OK.
  3. Select the "Install SAS Software" radio button and click Next.
  4. You will be prompted to select the products to install. The default selection will include SAS Foundation and related options. Consult your instructor and select the checkbox next to any additional modules needed for your class. Click Next.
  5. Select either the 64-bit or 32-bit mode, depending on your computer’s operating system and click Next. (Most computers have a 64-bit operating system.)
  6. The next screen verifies the SAS products to be installed. If everything looks correct, click Next.
  7. The next screen verifies the location of the license file and lists the expiration dates of the SAS products. Click Next.
  8. In the next screen, you can choose the languages to install. We recommend clearing all selections and only installing the language(s) you need then click Next.
  9. Consult your instructor for <Host Name> and <Port Name>. If you have no instructions, leave the default settings and click Next.
  10. For the Configure SAS Studio Basic, SAS Studio Basic Configuration Directory, and SAS Studio Basic Ports windows, it is recommended to use the default settings unless your instructor provides further information on customizing these options. Click Next.
  11. For SAS Studio Basic E-mail Support, uncheck the "Configure E-mail Support" option and click Next.
  12. Make note of the location for the SAS Studio Basic Start-up Instructions file and click Next.
  13. After the system check is complete, click Next.
  14. Click Start to begin the installation. (Installation times may vary and can take more than 1 hour, depending on your computer’s performance.)
  15. When installation has been completed successfully, click Next.
  16. Make note of the available support options should you need them and click Finish.
