WHAT IS FIRST DAY™?
First Day™ course materials are digital versions of the physical textbook that may include additional educational resources such as workbooks, problem sets, tutorials, video, simulations, and interactive software.
With this program, the cost of course materials is added as a charge for the course, by UCO, and students receive benefits including:
- Deeply discounted, lowest price materials
- The guaranteed right materials
- Access on or before the first day of class
- Option to Opt-In or Opt-Out of program (If opting-out, students will be responsible for purchasing course materials)
IMPORTANT: This is NOT a program that is university-wide. It is instructor choice if they choose to participate in program.
WHAT IF I WANT A PHYSICAL COPY OF THE TEXTBOOK?
Most publishers give students the option of purchasing a very affordable loose-leaf copy of the book through the campus bookstore. The loose-leaf copy can also be ordered online from the bookstore and shipped directly to your home.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY FIRST DAY™ COURSES?
When you register for a First Day™ course, the cost of digital course materials is included as a course materials charge and will appear on your Bursar account. This charge is automatically added to the tuition and fees and is only applicable to courses that are part of the First Day™ program.
You will have access to the required materials by the first day of class. This charge is applied each time you register for a First Day™ course, including if a class is repeated. The fee is $99.00 for each course that is using this program.
HOW DO I ACCESS FIRST DAY™ COURSE MATERIALS?
Once the course is opened by the instructor, you will be able to access your digital course materials through D2L. First-time users will need to create an account with the publisher providing the course material.
Please ensure your pop-up blocker is disabled within your browser during use.
IS THERE AN OPT-OUT FOR THE FIRST DAY™ COURSE MATERIALS?
You may opt-out of purchasing the First Day™ digital course materials; however, you are still responsible for completing all work assigned by your instructor. The Opt-Out tool is available through the Course Materials link in the First Day™ course in D2L. You must Opt-Out before the deadline.
The deadline is listed on the Course Materials page and is included in the Welcome Email you will receive.
If opting-out, students will be responsible for purchasing course materials.
IS THERE HELP AVAILABLE?
Yes! Each faculty member is trained to help you with your digital course materials and can provide instructions on how to access the materials through D2L.
