The requirements for admission are available on our Apply to UCO website. UCO has several student types within Undergraduate Admissions, each with different required documents and admittance criteria. See student types below.
Basic Required Information for Admission
- Admissions Application: Pay the non-refundable application fee upon submission.
- ACT or SAT Test Scores: UCO is part of a pilot program for test-optional admission through Spring 2026. You may still submit ACT or SAT scores to be considered for academic scholarships. Note: Home-study & Unaccredited High School students are not eligible for Test-Optional admissions and must submit ACT/SAT scores.
- Official High School Transcript or GED
- Official College Transcript: Required for every institution attended.
- Proof of Citizenship: If born outside of the U.S. or not a U.S. citizen.
Regardless of student type, some students may need to submit Proof of Citizenship and/or their Immunization Records.
Citizenship Documents
Accepted documents for proof of citizenship:
- US birth certificate
- Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”)
- Certificate of Refugee/Asylee Status
- US passport
- Certificate of Citizenship
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Consular’s report of birth abroad
Documents not considered proof of citizenship:
- Social security card
- Work authorization card
- Driver’s license
- Passport from a foreign country
- Receipt of payment for a green card or any other proof

Requirements for Admission by Student Type
Concurrent Enrollment Students
Concurrent Enrollment is for high school juniors or seniors who want to enroll in college classes and earn college credit while still in high school.
Required Documents:

- 3.0 Unweighted High School GPA & Top 50% Unweighted Class Rank, OR
- 20 Composite ACT/Pre-ACT or SAT/PSAT Combined Math & ERW 1030

Freshman Students
Incoming Freshman students are under the age of 21 and have no prior college experience. Concurrently-enrolled high school students are considered incoming freshmen.
Required Documents:
- Official High School Transcript
- Optional: ACT/SAT Scores* (Home-study & Unaccredited High School students must submit ACT/SAT scores)
Admissions Standards:
- 2.7 Unweighted High School GPA & Top 50% Unweighted Class Rank, OR
- 20 Composite ACT or 1030 SAT Combined Math & ERW, OR
- 2.7 Core GPA (*requires a seventh-semester High School Transcript), OR
- Test-Optional: 2.7 Unweighted GPA (Must take Placement Tests)

Transfer Students
Undergraduate Students who have attended an accredited college or university and have attempted more than 6 hours.
Required Documents:
- Official College Transcripts from all prior schools attended* (Transfers with 23 or fewer credit hours must also submit High School Transcript and ACT/SAT Scores)
Admissions Standards:
- 7-23 credit hours: 1.7 Retention GPA & Meets Freshman Standards
- 24-29 credit hours: 1.7 Retention GPA
- 30+ credit hours: 2.0 Retention GPA
- Out-of-State Transfer (7+ credit hours): 2.0 Retention GPA

Adult Students
Students over 21 years of age with less than six attempted college credit hours or active-duty military who have graduated from high school or have a GED, apply as an adult student. Adult students must demonstrate college readiness through Course Placement Testing (CPT).
Required Documents:
- Official High School Transcript or GED Score Report (Diplomas are not acceptable)
- Computerized Placement Tests results: English (Writing) & Reading
Admissions Standards:
- High School Graduate or GED Certificate Earned
- Passing English (Writing) & Reading scores (English (Writing): 240, Reading: 237)

Readmit Students
It has been more than one semester and a summer term since the student's last attendance at UCO, a student wants to continue at Central after they have earned an undergraduate degree or students who want to return after being academically suspended.
With Transfer Credit (credit earned at another institution after attending UCO):
- Required Documents: Official College Transcripts from any accredited institution(s) attended after UCO
- Admissions Standards: 2.0 Retention GPA*
No Transfer Credit (UCO was the last accredited institution attended seeking a degree):
- Required Documents: None
- Admissions Standards: Good Academic Standing (UCO Retention GPA 2.0*), OR Sat out one full 16-week semester (Fall/Spring) after a First Suspension
*Readmit students may be admissible with below a 2.0 GPA due to the Academic Standing policy. For information about this, they should be directed to their Admissions Counselor.

Postbaccalaureate Students
Students holding at least a bachelor's degree who wish to take undergraduate courses without pursuing a degree. Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for financial aid.
Required Documents:
- Official College Transcript with Bachelor’s Degree
Admissions Standards:
- Earned a Bachelor’s from an accredited institution

Visiting/Special Students
Students who intend to take nine credit hours or less at UCO. Visiting students are not eligible for financial aid.
Required Documents: None Admissions Standards: None
Applicants who have met or exceeded the 9 credit hour limit at UCO cannot be admitted under this student type and will need to contact their Admission Counselor to update their applicant type.
Visiting students will need to send their unofficial college transcripts and/or standardized test scores to articulation@uco.edu for assistance with registration for courses.

Second Bachelor’s Degree Students
Students pursuing a second bachelor's degree and have never attended UCO will apply as transfer students. Students who have attended or received a bachelor's degree from UCO will apply as readmit students.
