How do I apply for summer aid?

Summer Financial Aid Information

Summer is considered a trailer semester, meaning you do not need to submit a new FAFSA to receive aid in the summer if you already have one on file from fall and spring. However, you will be required to complete a Summer Aid Application Form to receive any eligible summer aid. This form will be available starting in March. Please visit the Financial Aid Forms page for more details.

Important Notes for Completing the Form

When completing the Summer Aid Application Form, ensure you are using a desktop or laptop with either Chrome or Firefox as your browser. Attempting to complete the form through a tablet or mobile device may result in errors.

Summer Aid Details

Summer aid will come from the previous academic year (fall/spring). If you didn't use all your eligible aid for fall and spring, you may have some left over to use for summer based on general eligibility requirements. For example, the 2024-2025 FAFSA covers Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025.

Students can begin registering for summer classes when priority enrollment begins and can expect to be awarded within 5-7 business days after submitting the Summer Aid Application. During times of high volume, this process could take up to 10 business days.

Eligibility Requirements

To determine your eligibility:

  • Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for summer.
  • Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 5 credit hours for summer.

For the 2024-2025 award year and beyond, there is no half-time summer enrollment requirement for Pell eligibility. We encourage students to monitor their portal frequently for updates.

For information regarding year-round Pell Grant eligibility, visit the Federal Student Aid Pell Grant page.

Oklahoma's Promise

Oklahoma’s Promise is available for summer semesters, except for the first summer college semester immediately following your high school graduation. If you will be receiving Oklahoma’s Promise, please indicate this on the Summer Aid Application under Resources. For more information, visit the Oklahoma's Promise website.

Oklahoma Tuition and Aid Grant (OTAG)

The Oklahoma Tuition and Aid Grant (OTAG) is not available during the summer semester.
