Webex Meetings and Webex Teams

Description

This article provides an overview of the Cisco Webex Meetings and Teams tools. This will cover accessing Webex through the web, desktop software, and through the Learn@UCO (D2L) integration. Additional resources are also provided on using the meetings and teams resources. 

Webex Meetings vs.Teams

Webex Meetings is Cisco Webex's video conferencing solution that offers video, audio, and screen sharing capabilities similar to other web conferencing services such as Zoom and Skype. Webex Teams takes meetings to the next level allowing for team collaboration through meetings, chat messaging, file and screen sharing, and whiteboarding. Webex Meetings can be used through the Teams interface or used on its own through a separate application. 

OIT recommends using WebexTeams for collaboration purposes between instructors and students at this time.

Learn@UCO (D2L) Integration

Webex is fully integrated within the Learn@UCO (D2L) environment that allows instructors to create Webex meetings and team spaces from their D2L courses. These resources are then available to anyone currently enrolled in the D2L course shell including students. Additionally, students will have access to create their own Webex meeting spaces to initiate group collaboration and communication with their peers without the need for an instructor intermediary. Accessing Your Webex Account

There are three ways to access your Webex account and begin creating meetings, teams, and spaces; online through the web interface, using the desktop client on your computer, or through Learn@UCO (D2L) integration. Additionally, you can use the mobile app Webex Meet to create, manage, and join meetings.

Web Interface

1. Log in to your individual Webex account by visiting the http://uco.webex.com page and clicking the Sign In button. 

2. Use your UCO email and password to log in. 

Desktop Client

You also have the option to download and install the Desktop application.

  1. Visit the Webex downloads page and select Meetings and/or Teams to start the software download.
  2. Once the file download is complete, run the installation program.
  3. Follow the prompts on your computer for completing the installation process. 

Once Webex Meetings/Teams is installed, you may use the desktop application to access your meetings and/or teams resources at any time. 

  1. Open the application
  2. Enter your full UCO Email address then click Next
  3. You will be redirected to the UCO login page. Enter your UCO username and password then click Login. 
  4. You will now have access to the Webex features. 

Mobile App - Webex Meet

  1. Download the Webex Meet app from the Google Play or iTunes App Store
  2. Open the app from your mobile device
  3. Tap Sign In
  4. Enter your UCO Email Address then tap Next
  5. Tap Enter Site URL
  6. In the URL textbox, type uco.webex.com then tap Next
  7. After logging in with your UCO username and password, you will be able to create and join meetings straight from the app.
