From news releases to interview coordination (and everything in between), the University Communications team is your strategic partner in telling the University of Central Oklahoma’s story to the public.
Our experienced staff writes and distributes press releases to local, regional and specialty media outlets, tailoring each release to align with the university’s integrated marketing goals. Additionally, we work with campus communicators embedded in colleges and departments to edit and distribute releases. We spotlight the unique and diverse accomplishments of our campus community and elevate the visibility of UCO’s mission, initiatives and achievements.

Key Details
As UCO’s official communications office, University Communications serves as the liaison between the university and the news media. We coordinate media interviews, assist with event coverage and help connect reporters with UCO experts for stories on timely topics.
Our team also provides guidance and coaching to faculty and staff to ensure interviews and media engagement reflect UCO’s brand, values and priorities.
With a trusted reputation among media professionals, we work daily to maintain strong relationships with journalists and use that credibility to amplify UCO’s voice.
Available To
News release services are available to UCO faculty, staff and administrators. Student organizations may also submit requests with the support of a sponsoring department or advisor. All news releases are subject to editorial review and must align with the university’s messaging priorities and communication strategy.
Service Fees or Additional Costs
There is no charge for news release development or distribution. However, requests are evaluated based on content relevance, timeliness and alignment with the university’s marketing and public relations goals. Not all submitted stories will result in a news release, but alternate promotional options may be recommended.
