What is this service?

The Information Security policy exception process exists to support specific, limited circumstances where adhering to security controls defined in the Information Security Policy — and its associated Standards and Guides — would significantly hinder the University’s core missions of education, research, business operations, or service.

To balance the need for operational flexibility with the University of Central Oklahoma’s responsibility to protect institutional data and systems, Information Security provides a formal process for requesting exceptions. Approved exceptions allow for necessary deviations from standard policy compliance, based on documented justification and risk evaluation.

How to request the service

  • Online Support: Open a ticket through this self-service portal for prompt assistance 
  • Phone: Call the UCO Service Help Desk at 405-974-2255 and speak directly to a technician.
  • Chat: You can chat with us from the Home page.
  • Walk-in Support: Visit the IT Support Center on the first floor of the Chambers Library or the Tech Express on the second floor of the Nigh University Center for in-person troubleshooting and advice.
