Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • If I check my document for plagiarism in Draft Coach, will that affect the Turnitin detection through my D2L course Assignment folder?
Nope! The similarity (plagiarism) detection in Draft Coach allows students to check their documents against the Turnitin database without cataloging the document in the database itself. This means that it does not save it as a submitted student assignment until it is actually submitted to the Assignment folder in a D2L course.
  • Do I have a limited number of checks while using Draft Coach?
Yes and no. Students have unlimited use of the grammar and citation checker while using Draft Coach in MS Word online but can only use the similarity (plagiarism) checker a maximum of 3 times per document. It is recommended that you save your similarity checks until you have a mostly completed document as a part of your final revision process.
  • Can I use Draft Coach in Google Docs? I see Google Docs referenced on Turnitin's website but I don't see it as an option when I am in Google Docs.
Our licensing with Turnitin only allows for Draft Coach to be used in either Microsoft Word online or Google Docs online; not both. All UCO students and instructors have full access to the Microsoft suite of tools through Office 365 and it has been enabled to work with those tools. You do need to activate your Office 365 account by visiting office.com and logging in with your UCO account information.
