Copy Course Content: Learn@UCO

Description

This article guides instructors in the process of copying content from one Learn@UCO course shell to another. Instructors can copy all content from one course to another or may pick-and-choose which content to copy. You must have instructor level access to both the original course and the new course to be able to copy content between shells.

The copying process will move over all content, dropboxes, discussions, gradebooks, settings and more between classes. You will also have the option to offset dates when copying components.

Instructions

  1. Log in to Learn@UCO and access your new course shell (the course you are copying components into).
  2. Click Edit Course.
  3. Click Import/Export/Copy Components.
  4. You will need to tell the system where the original information can be found. Click Search for offering.
  5. In the pop up window, use the text field to search for the original course. You can search by semester code, course name, or CRN. Click the <magnifying glass> to start the search.
  6. Click the <radio button> to select the correct course.
  7. Click Add Selected.
  8. Your original page will refresh and you should now see the name of the selected course listed under “Course to copy”.
  9. If you want to copy everything from the original course, click Copy All Components and continue to step 14. OR you can choose to copy only specific parts of original course. Continue to step 10. Note: If STLR-tagged assignments are copying over with the full copy, remember to submit the STLR-tagging Form (https://blogs.uco.edu/stlr/how-to-stlr-tag-activities).
  10. Click Select components.
  11. On the next page, click the <checkbox> for each tool from which you want to copy specific components. Then select either Copy all items (to copy everything from the selected tool) or Select individual items to copy (to select only specific components from the selected tool).
  12. Click Continue.
  13. If you opted to select individual items, the subsequent pages will allow you select specific items to copy. Click the <checkbox> next to the items and click Continue. Note: If copying an Assignment folder that is STLR-tagged you need to also copy the STLR Rubric and submit the STLR-tagging form (https://blogs.uco.edu/stlr/how-to-stlr-tag-activities) if you wish to continue to be STLR-tagged
  14. On the confirmation page, review your selections and make modifications as needed.
  15. If you would like to use the offset date feature, select the Offset all dates of copied components check box and specify the days and hours that the dates should be offset by or calculate the range between two dates. (The offset dates option allows you to adjust all dates associated with the copied material for the new course by shifting all dates by a specific amount of time).
  16. Click Finish.
  17. As the course copy processes, you may navigate away from the Copy Course Components History page. When the copy is complete, you will see a green check mark.
