Introduction

UCO provides email services to all faculty, staff, students, and alumni using both Microsoft Outlook and Google Gmail. 

  • Microsoft Outlook: Faculty and staff use Outlook email as part of the Office 365 applications. It may be accessed directly at mail.uco.edu
  • Google Gmail: Students and alumni use Gmail as part fo the Google Workspace. It may be accessed directly at gmail.uco.edu

Summary of Email for Emeritus Faculty
The purpose of this tutorial is to explain the steps to send an encrypted e-mail, how to open the e-mail if it is received by UCO employees, non-UCO employees and/or students.
UCO email provided for students and alumni is powered by Google and is the official communications messaging system. The university has partnered with Google to offer an email service that includes email processing, spam filtering, and storage while still using the uco.edu domain.
OIT has implemented FortiMail to assist with the evaluation of incoming and outgoing email messages for potential threats. A separate quarantine space has been created for each unique UCO email address and messages that have been identified as potential spam will be routed to that address's quarantine. The Safe Attachments security feature in Office 365 ensures that all potentially malicious email attachments are automatically executed in a virtual sandbox environment, allowing Microsoft to identify and block harmful attachments without any risk to UCO.
